Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer role involves working closely with everyone within the technology team and also the wider business (including other cloud infrastructure engineers, developers, architects, analysts, product owners and the leadership team).

Working as part of a small team you will be responsible for the ongoing administration of the online platform, hosted in Microsoft Azure, and associated continuous improvement and refinement. You will also be responsible for build and release pipelines, Infrastructure (as Code) and availability and performance monitoring.

The Role:

PRIMARY DUTIES 

  • Utilising best practise Infrastructure as Code for delivering and running consistent, performant and scalable environments. 
  • Continuous monitoring ensuring services remain available, performant and scalable. 
  • Defining and ensuring we meet SLI, SLO, SLA and KPIs. 
  • Creating and maintaining CI/CD build and release pipelines within Azure DevOps. 
  • A good understanding of networking and infrastructure, ideally including cloud experience. 
  • Knowledge sharing and collaborative working with peers and wider teams. 
  • Any other duties or tasks as requested by your line manager.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS 

  • Understands the DevOps culture and mindset. 
  • Practical experience working with a major cloud provider e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP but ideally Azure 
  • Experience and knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform. 
  • Knowledge sharing and collaborative working with peers and wider teams. 
  • Strong knowledge and experience with CI/CD pipelines, ideally within Azure DevOps. 
  • Proficient scripting skills e.g. PowerShell, Python, etc. 
  • A working knowledge of GIT and source control. 
  • Experience of SQL Databases.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a technical subject or practical experience in a DevOps role.
  • Will consider other technical specialists looking to move into DevOps if some relevant experience is shown. E.g. Software • Developers who have experience in Azure and CI/CD pipelines.

Location: Houghton-le-Spring, hybrid working 

Hours: 37.5 per week 

Salary Range: £60,000 per annum
