Using data to develop a whole school literacy strategy

This seminar is designed for schools interested in implementing a reading assessment program. It aims to help schools learn more about using assessment to improve reading and communication outcomes for their students. The session will introduce our NGRT assessment (New Group Reading Test) - focusing on reading and comprehension skills, and WellComm – assessesing communication and language skills, from Early Years to Primary.

Please note, this seminar is designed for those who do not currently use NGRT and/ or WellComm.

This seminar will cover:

  • An introduction to our adaptive reading test (NGRT) and identifying students’ reading strengths and growth areas
  • How to use the instant reporting to empower educators to create accurate targets and benchmark attainment for personalised learning
  • The key role of literacy skills in unlocking students' full potential to access the whole curriculum.
  • An introduction to WellComm early years and primary assessment – a tool to support strong foundations for language development and academic progress.

What will you learn and take away?

  • A better understanding of how NGRT and WellComm assessments can be used to support teaching and learning
  • How literacy assessments can be used to support whole school literacy strategies
  • The importance of having literacy benchmarking data to set targets and monitor progress.

How to develop reading in every classroom

In addition to the content above, there will be an interactive and practical session, ran by Sarah Ledger, CEO of Lexonik. It will guide you through teaching and learning activities to develop reading in every classroom.  You will be taken through how we learn to read and how small adaptations in our teaching and classroom habits can make an instant impact on students' reading abilities and progress.

There will also be an opportunity to discover more about Lexonik’s targeted reading intervention programmes, which strategically align with your NGRT data.
