Sustainability

At GL, we focus on ensuring the best possible outcomes for students to help them learn and succeed, but we believe our responsibilities stretch beyond that, including how we operate day to day as we strive to be a better business.

That’s why we’ve embarked on our sustainability journey. From the environmental choices we make to the social impact we can bring, we’re committed to ensuring that we can effect positive change for people and the planet.

Read our sustainability policy.

  • FSC paper as standard

Even though 60% of our portfolio is available digitally, using paper is unavoidable for many of our customers. That’s why 100% of our products are on Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified paper.
  • Minimal waste

Completed tests and papers are returned to us for recycling, ready to be turned into new paper. And in our offices and warehouse, we’re already reducing our waste through reuse and recycling.
  • UK-based printers

The majority of our printers are based in the UK. It means we’re supporting the UK economy and the local communities where our printers are based.
  • Community support

Our employee volunteering scheme provides five paid days a year for our people to help causes close to their hearts, with local funding for extra support where it’s needed most.
  • Targeting emissions reductions

We’re taking steps to measure our emissions and set targets to reduce them. Tracking and sharing our progress is an integral part of our sustainability commitment.
  • Diversity and inclusion

Our Diversity Matters group aims to encourage diverse representation at all levels within GL, celebrates the diversity that exists within the organisation, and encourages open conversation in a safe and supportive environment.
Building a better world for tomorrow is at the heart of all we do.
