Impact of Covid-19 on attainment – initial analysis

We’ve analysed the results from the Progress Test Series and New Group Reading Test assessments taken in Autumn 2020 to better understand the initial impact of lockdown on children’s learning. See how your school compares by reading our new report.

Here are some of the key findings:

  • English and reading attainment has been less affected than maths and science
  • There has been a bigger impact in primary over secondary schools
  • Girls were more affected than boys. Boys usually perform better than girls in maths, but during the pandemic this gap has widened further
